Bangladesh, Oct. 12 -- The University of Dhaka (DU) has begun preparations for its 54th convocation, scheduled for January 26 next year, with applications from eligible graduates and medal recipients set to open on November 1.

A meeting to finalise arrangements for holding the ceremony in a smooth, orderly and festive atmosphere took place at the auditorium of Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Sunday, according to a university press release.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is set to preside over the ceremony, while Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has consented to attend as the guest of honour.
