Bangladesh, Sept. 21 -- The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) intensified drainage and cleaning operations on Sunday after heavy rain caused temporary waterlogging in several low-lying and sloping areas of the capital.

DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam inspected several affected areas, including Doel Chattar, Dhaka Medical College, Palashi intersection and New Market, at noon to assess the situation and oversee efforts to ease the waterlogging.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder began around 4am, causing temporary waterlogging in some low-lying areas and sloping roads under the DSCC jurisdiction.

DSCC cleaners and emergency response teams were deployed from the early morning to reduce public suffering, according to the city corporation....
