Bangladesh, July 26 -- Bangladesh recorded 439 new dengue cases and one death in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections this year to 12,640 and the death toll to 40, according to health authorities

The latest dengue update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) showed that patients were hospitalised across different regions of the country during the period.

Of the newly reported cases, 83 patients were admitted in Barishal division, 75 in Chattogram division, and 77 in Dhaka division.

The DGHS statement said 46 patients were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) areas and 41 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas.
