Bangladesh, July 17 -- Mitamoin upazila BNP president Jahidul Alam Jahangir (60) was hacked to death while he was returning home in Mithamoin area on Wednesday night. Local BNP leader was also injured while trying to protect him.
On his way to home in the Beribandh area of the upazila headquarters from Mitamoin Bazar on Wednesday night, some miscreants equipped with sharp weapons ambushed him.
He was seriously injured in the attack and was first rescued and taken to Mithamoin Upazila Health Complex. Subsequently, when his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital (SSNIMCH) around 12:20 am, while on duty doctors declared him dead.
