Bangladesh, Aug. 11 -- Bangladesh has described the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as one of the world's most successful regional organisations, expressing hope that its relations with the bloc will grow stronger and more meaningful.

"As we celebrate the 59th anniversary of its establishment, we remain hopeful that ASEAN's relations with Bangladesh will grow ever more meaningful, particularly with Bangladesh's formal acceptance into the ASEAN family," Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid said.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a reception held on Monday night to mark the 59th anniversary of ASEAN's establishment.
