Bangladesh, Sept. 22 -- The local administration in Joypurhat has seized 20 sacks of government-supplied fertiliser while they were being transported illegally to another district.

The seized fertiliser was later sold to local farmers at government-fixed prices.

Acting on a tip-off from the National Security Intelligence (NSI), Joypurhat Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmudul Hasan conducted a drive at Dowani Bazar in the upazila on Saturday night.

UNO Mahmudul Hasan said legal action had been taken against fugitive dealer Shaheen Kadir and the unidentified transporters involved in illegally transporting the government-supplied fertiliser.
