Kulgam, April 6 -- In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Kulgam Police have registered 10 cases under the NDPS Act over the past three weeks, leading to the arrest of 14 drug peddlers and seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics, officials said.

Police said that out of the total FIRs, nine were registered at Police Station Qazigund and one at Police Station Devsar. During the operations, contraband including 415.61 grams of heroin, 1,348 grams of charas (including powder and charas-like substance), and 1.5 kilograms of bhang patri was recovered. Cash amounting to Rs.1,37,990, believed to be proceeds of drug trade, was also seized.
