Srinagar, May 20 -- Srinagar- A youth was found dead in the Ranipora area of Shopian district of South Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Barkat Ali Mantoo, son of Bashir Ali and a resident of Reasi, reported news agency KNT.

The incident drew attention in the locality as residents gathered after learning about the death.

The circumstances surrounding the death were not immediately clear.

Police rushed to spot and initiated legal proceedings to ascertain the facts and circumstances leading to the incident.
