Srinagar, Aug. 15 -- Srinagar- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday hoisted the National Flag at the main 80th Independence Day function at Bakshi Stadium here and renewed his government's commitment to restoring the Union Territory's statehood and constitutional guarantees, while calling for stronger federalism, transparent governance and a new era of development.

Abdullah also took the salute at the ceremonial parade and march-past comprising contingents of the J&K Police, security forces and school students, besides brass and pipe bands of the J&K Police and schools.
