Srinagar, Sept. 22 -- Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly House Committee on Jal Jeevan Mission has flagged cases in which substantial civil works were executed without adequately confirming the availability and sustainability of water sources.

According to the committee report, expenditure was incurred on construction works without source confirmation, resulting in some schemes failing to provide drinking water to the intended beneficiaries.

The panel said such execution not only left beneficiaries without the expected water supply but also resulted in financial loss to the public exchequer.
