Srinagar, July 3 -- The giant prayer hall of Imam Khomeini Mosalla fell into an almost reverential silence each time another foreign delegation approached the rows of coffins draped in the Iranian tricolour.

At the centre lay the coffin of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei. Beside it rested those of members of his family, martyred alongside him in the February 28 attack. Among them was one that drew the longest, quietest gaze from visiting dignitaries-a tiny coffin carrying the remains of the leader's 14 month old granddaughter Zahra.
