Srinagar, Sept. 2 -- A political face-off unfolded in Srinagar as the BJP and National Conference held counter-protests over competing political demands.
The BJP staged a protest at Lal Chowk and moved towards the Civil Secretariat for its planned Secretariat Gherao, raising issues including unemployment, alleged corruption, job outsourcing, electricity tariff hikes, backdoor appointments and delays in Panchayat and ULB elections.
In response, the National Conference stage protests outside the BJP headquarters in Jawahar Nagar, demanding accountability over commitments made by the Central Government in Parliament and the Supreme Court.
