Srinagar, Aug. 14 -- Srinagar- A man was killed and another sustained serious injuries after a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member allegedly opened fire at them in the Moungri area of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials said.

A senior police officer said that the incident occurred in the morning when the two persons were travelling towards Damnot Police Post. During the journey, an argument reportedly broke out, following which the accused allegedly opened fire at them.

He said that one person was killed in the incident, while another sustained injuries. The deceased was identified as Baldev Singh, son of Karta Singh, and the injured as Romesh Singh, son of Nak Ram.
