Srinagar, June 4 -- Srinagar- Thousands of people from across the Kargil region of Ladakh on Thhursday gathered to commemorate the 37th death anniversary of Imam Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a solemn ceremony marked by tributes, prayers, and renewed commitment to the ideals he championed.

Imam Khomeini, who led Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution and passed away on June 3, 1989, is widely revered by millions around the world for his advocacy of justice, resistance against oppression, and promotion of Islamic values. More than three decades after his passing, his legacy continues to resonate among many communities, including in Kargil, which shares deep religious and cultural ties with Iran.
