Srinagar, Aug. 18 -- Kashmir's environmental crisis has finally knocked at the power corridor, and the messenger makes the moment harder to dismiss.

Tourism players have gone to Lok Bhavan to speak about the damage gathering around the lakes, forests, glaciers and mountain slopes that sustain their own livelihoods.

Their intervention says something important about the mood on the ground: the pressure has become too visible to ignore.

Kashmir has spent years celebrating rising visitor numbers as a sign of economic recovery. The same success has brought heavier traffic to fragile landscapes, more plastic along trekking routes, more construction on hillsides and greater pressure on water and waste systems.
