India, March 11 -- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdi on Wednesday directed officers to maintain strict vigil, strengthen security measures and ensure effective crowd management during upcoming festivals across the Valley.

Chairing a security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) here, IGP Birdi reviewed the arrangements for major upcoming festivals including Shab-e-Qadr, Navratri, Eid al-Fitr and Nauroz.

Officials said the meeting focused on ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order and facilitating smooth conduct of the religious events, which usually witness large gatherings at places of worship across the Kashmir Valley.
