Special Train Carries 600+ Stranded Passengers From Srinagar to Katra
Srinagar, July 23 -- Jammu- Northern Railway on Wednesday operated a special train from Srinagar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, ferrying more than 600 stranded passengers as heavy rains and slow traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway disrupted road connectivity, officials said.
The special train was operated by the Jammu Division on the directions of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal to facilitate the movement of passengers stranded in the Kashmir Valley.
The train departed from Srinagar at 5.10 pm, halted at Banihal, and is scheduled to reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 8.15 pm, officials said.
