Special Court Acquits Two Persons In NDPS Case
Srinagar, Aug. 10 -- Srinagar- A court here has acquitted two accused in a 2022 drug case registered in Budgam, holding that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the alleged contraband was recovered from their conscious and exclusive possession.
The Special Judge (NDPS Cases) Srinagar, Vinod Kumar, acquitted Shahnawaz Qadir Ganie, and Mohd Ayoub Sofi, both residents of Hyderpora of offences under Sections 8/20, 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to the prosecution, the case (FIR No. 207/2022) was registered at Police Station Budgam after police recovered 65 grams of charas, 15 bottles containing codeine-based medicinal preparation and Rs 1.39 lakh in cash during a se...
