Solemn Processions Mark Ashura Across Kashmir
Srinagar, June 26 -- Srinagar - Echoing with elegies, nohas and cries of remembrance, lakhs of mourners across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday observed Yaum-e-Ashura with solemn processions and religious gatherings, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), his family members and loyal companions in the Battle of Karbala.
Clad in black, mourners filled streets across Shia-majority areas of the Valley, Jammu and the Ladakh region, reaffirming Karbala's timeless message of sacrifice, justice and resistance against oppression. The observances concluded peacefully under elaborate security and civic arrangements, with the largest congregation witnessed at Srinagar's historic quarter of Zadibal.
