Srinagar, Aug. 2 -- Srinagar- The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has demolished an allegedly illegal structure built on state-owned Nazool land in Srinagar and reclaimed the property during an anti-encroachment drive, officials said.

The demolition was carried out by the SMC's Enforcement Wing under the supervision of the concerned Ward Officer as part of the corporation's ongoing campaign against illegal encroachments on government land.

According to the SMC, the structure had been raised without any valid municipal permission or land title. The civic body identified the alleged encroacher as Idrees Ahmad, claiming that he had illegally occupied the high-value public land and undertaken unauthorised construction.
