SC Sets 3-Month Deadline For HCs To Deliver Reserved Judgments
Srinagar, May 29 -- Srinagar- The Supreme Court on Friday directed all high courts across the country to pronounce judgments within three months of reserving orders, observing that delays in delivering verdicts cause irreparable loss to litigants and undermine the justice delivery system.
A bench comprising Surya Kant and Joymalya Baghchi issued a series of directions aimed at ensuring timely disposal of cases, particularly those involving personal liberty.
Stressing the need for expeditious decisions in bail matters, the bench said orders on bail applications should ordinarily be pronounced on the same day they are heard. In cases where orders are reserved, the court said they must be pronounced and uploaded by the following day.
