Runway Repair At Srinagar Airport Overdue By 5 Yrs: AAI
Srinagar, June 13 -- Srinagar- The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Saturday said the maintenance of the runway at Srinagar International Airport was necessary as the last major repair work had been carried out 15 years ago, exceeding the recommended maintenance cycle.
Speaking to reporters, Srinagar Airport Director Javed Anjum said runway maintenance was essential to ensure safe aircraft operations.
"Every runway needs maintenance. Here, the last maintenance was done 15 years ago. Maintenance of a runway is necessary every 10 years. So, we have taken up the maintenance of the runway at the airport here," Anjum said.
The AAI has planned a phased maintenance schedule and decided to suspend flight operations on Mondays and Tuesdays ...
