India, Oct. 5 -- Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness light rain and snowfall over higher reaches from Tuesday, with the Meteorological Centre forecasting thunderstorms, gusty winds and scattered rainfall across the Union Territory.

According to the latest forecast, weather is expected to remain generally dry on Monday before partly to generally cloudy conditions develop from October 6. Light rain and light snowfall are likely at a few places during the initial phase of the weather change.

The MeT has forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds during the coming days, with a more significant spell of rain and snowfall likely around October 8 to 10 under the influence of a Western Disturbance.
