India, Oct. 10 -- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday called for an education system that prepares children for life beyond examinations, stressing the need to equip students with critical thinking, digital literacy, adaptability and a strong sense of responsibility.

Addressing the School Leader of the Year 2026 Summit & Awards in New Delhi, Omar emphasised the role of school leaders in shaping young minds and building safe, inclusive and student-centric educational institutions.

He said principals and headteachers do much more than administer schools, as they play a crucial role in shaping students' learning environments, values and aspirations.
