Srinagar, June 28 -- New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday thanked citizens for responding to his appeal to conserve resources during the West Asia crisis, saying people actively supported measures such as temporarily avoiding gold purchases, limiting foreign travel and adopting fuel-saving practices.

Addressing the nation in his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Modi said the public had not only accepted his appeal but had also actively cooperated in helping the country navigate a challenging period.

"I am grateful to every citizen of the country; not only have they supported my appeal, they are also actively cooperating in every way," the Prime Minister said.
