Srinagar, Aug. 14 -- New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday remembered the victims of the 1947 Partition, paying tribute to those who lost their lives, were displaced and endured immense suffering during the division of the country.

Marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, observed on August 14 since 2021, Modi said Partition had torn apart several lives, uprooted families and separated loved ones.

"Today we mark #PartitionHorrorsRemembranceDay. We recall the courage of all those who were impacted by Partition. It was a moment in history that tore apart several lives - families were uprooted, loved ones were lost and immense suffering was endured," Modi said in a post on X.
