Srinagar, Sept. 24 -- Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir government has informed the Legislative Assembly that more than 12.89 lakh farmers have been covered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme, with claims worth Rs 221.71 crore disbursed so far.

According to data tabled in the House, the crop insurance schemes are being implemented across all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir and are open to eligible farmer families subject to prescribed guidelines and eligibility criteria.

The government said around 13.985 lakh farmer families are eligible to avail the benefits of the schemes.
