Srinagar, July 15 -- Srinagar- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the National Conference (NC) will go ahead with its planned protest in New Delhi over the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood, asserting that the party will leave for the national capital on July 19 even if permission to hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar is denied.

Speaking to reporters after paying tributes to his uncle and senior NC leader Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, who passed away on Tuesday, Omar said there would be no change in the party's programme despite the bereavement.

"Our protest at Jantar Mantar remains unchanged," Omar said, adding that the party would continue to wait for permission while preparing an alternative plan.
