Srinagar, Aug. 4 -- Srinagar- An old rusted mortar shell was found during digging work in the courtyard of a vacant house in Kattal Brahmana area of Hiranagar area of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning, officials said.

Officials said that at about 09:15 hrs, the shell was found in the house belonging to Subash Chander, son of Nago Ram, resident of Kattal Brahmana, Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua, reported news agency GNS.

Upon receiving the information, BPP Sherpur was immediately informed. A police party from BPP Sherpur reached the spot and took the old rusted shell into custody.

The BDS team of DPL Kathua has been informed to reach the spot and diffuse the shell safely, officials added.
