No Dinners, No New Posts: J&K Govt's Austerity Push
Srinagar, May 23 -- Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir government has rolled out a sweeping set of austerity measures for the financial year 2026-27, imposing curbs on official spending that include restrictions on travel and vehicle purchases, a ban on official dinners and hospitality functions, and a freeze on the creation of new posts.
The Finance Department has directed all departments and government agencies to enforce fiscal prudence and rationalise expenditure, stressing the need for "utmost economy" in administrative functioning.
Under the new measures, departments have been asked to avoid unnecessary expenditure on conferences, seminars, workshops and training programmes and instead explore virtual alternatives wherever possible. ...
