Srinagar, Aug. 1 -- Srinagar- Northern Railway on Saturday operated three special trains between Kashmir and Jammu after the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway stranded passengers and triggered a rush at railway stations.

The special services helped around 2,200 passengers affected by the highway closure, officials said.

According to the Railways, two special trains were operated between Budgam and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Katra in both directions, while another one-way special train ran between Banihal and Katra.

Jammu Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the trains were pressed into service immediately after authorities were informed about the closure of NH-44.
