India, Nov. 3 -- The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) on Tuesday hit back at Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi over his remarks against the party leadership, accusing the Srinagar MP of "mental and moral bankruptcy" and "self-obsession" while questioning his contribution towards the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

In a detailed response posted on its official social media handle, the party alleged that Ruhullah's speech was marked by derogatory and unparliamentary language against the NC leadership.

The party also claimed that Ruhullah decided to resign only after being directed to do so by the NC president, adding that his decision to invoke the issues of special status and reservation came belatedly.
