Srinagar, Aug. 11 -- Srinagar- Multi-tier security arrangements have been put in place across Kashmir ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, with heightened surveillance in Srinagar, intensified patrolling in vulnerable areas and increased vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB).

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, V K Birdi, said on Tuesday that security had been strengthened not only at the venues of Independence Day functions but also in surrounding areas and across all districts of the Valley.

Speaking to reporters after reviewing preparations at the Balidan Stambh in Srinagar, Birdi said the Jammu and Kashmir Police maintains robust security arrangements across the Valley.
