Srinagar, April 28 -- Srinagar- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAMehraj Malikwas released from Kathua jail on Tuesday after spending eight months in detention, following the quashing of his preventive detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA) by the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.

Setting aside the detention order issued by the Doda district magistrate, JusticeMohd Yousuf Waniheld that the order was legally unsustainable and suffered from "non-application of mind," directing authorities to release the legislator.
