Srinagar, Aug. 4 -- Srinagar- The body of a woman who had gone missing from her home was recovered from Mandi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Tuesday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Sarwara Begum, wife of Mukhtar Ahmad and a resident of Dana Gagdyan in Mandi, they said.

According to officials, her family had informed police on Monday that Begum had left home but failed to return.

Following the report, police, along with local residents, launched a search operation, during which her body was recovered from the area on Tuesday, officials said, as per news agency GNS.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances and cause of her death, they added.
