Srinagar, May 7 -- Srinagar- A three-year-old child died in a road accident on the Sopore-Bandipora Bypass Road in North Kashmir on Thursday morning, officials said.

The incident occurred at around 8:45 a.m., triggering panic and grief in the area as local residents gathered at the scene soon after the accident.

Officials said the child sustained critical injuries in the incident and died on the spot or shortly afterward, though the identity of the minor had not been officially disclosed at the time of filing this report.

The accident reportedly involved an Army vehicle traveling through the bypass stretch when the child came under the vehicle under circumstances that are being investigated.
