Srinagar, July 22 -- Srinagar- Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad on Wednesday escaped unhurt after a landslide hit his official vehicle while he was inspecting rain and landslide-affected areas along the Jammu-Poonch National Highway, officials said.

Officials said that rocks and debris suddenly rolled down from a hill and struck the MP's vehicle during the inspection.

However, Mian Altaf and those accompanying him escaped without injuries, reported news agency KNO.

The incident led to the temporary closure of the Jammu-Poonch National Highway, with authorities immediately launching clearance operations to remove the debris and restore traffic.
