Lal Ded's Vakhs Find a New Canvas in Kashmir's Pashmina
Srinagar, Sept. 10 -- Srinagar- Centuries after Lal Ded's mystical verses first emerged from Kashmir's spiritual and literary tradition, her voice has found a new canvas-hand-spun, hand-woven Pashmina.
Titled 'Vakhs of Silence', the ongoing exhibition by noted visual artist Masood Hussain brings together poetry, spirituality and traditional craftsmanship, reimagining the Vakhs of Lal Ded through colour, imagery and contemporary visual language.
At the heart of the exhibition are around 20 Vakhs selected by Hussain from the large body of poetry attributed to Lal Ded, one of Kashmir's most revered mystic poets.
