Kashmir Study Eyes Mental Health Curriculum For Youth
India, Oct. 6 -- A study by researchers from the University of Kashmir and the Centre of Excellence in Mental Health at PGIMER has proposed a culturally tailored mental health intervention for young people in Kashmir that could eventually form the basis of a mental health curriculum in schools and colleges.
The study protocol, published in the Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine, focuses on primary prevention of substance use and suicide among youth aged 16 to 24. It seeks to identify locally relevant mental health risk factors, screen young people at risk and assess the effectiveness of a structured intervention.
