Srinagar, Sept. 6 -- Srinagar- After decades of serving as a picturesque backdrop for Bollywood films, Kashmir is set to take centre stage in the global cinematic landscape as the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) begins on Monday.

The four-day festival, themed "Rang-e-Cinema", will be held from September 7 to 10 and is being organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu and Kashmir. The festival is being positioned as a major international platform for cinema, cultural exchange, filmmaking and creative tourism.

The festival will bring 135 films from 41 countries to Jammu and Kashmir, selected from more than 1,100 submissions received from 92 countries.
