Kashmir Observes Ashura With Solemnity
Srinagar, June 26 -- Srinagar- Hundreds of thousands of people joined Alam and Zuljanah processions on Friday to mark Yaum-e-Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram-ul-Haram. Ashura is observed across Kashmir with profound solemnity to honor the ultimate sacrifice made by Imam Hussain (AS) and his devout companions in the desert of Karbala in 680 CE.
Men, women, children and elderly mourners joined Ashura processions, majalis and religious gatherings across the Valley, while historic Zuljinah procession at Zadibal in Srinagar witnessed one of its largest turnouts, with thousands of mourners marching from Imambara Gulshan Bagh to the revered Astan Mir Shams-ud-Din Iraqi (RA) at Zadibal in remembrance of the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Huss...
