Kashmir Must Stop Putting Depression on Trial

Depression faces two battles in Kashmir.
One unfolds inside the mind, the other begins the moment someone decides to speak.
That second battle often comes with suspicion, gossip, amateur diagnosis, and endless questions that push people back into silence.
"What happened? Did you have a breakup?" "Were you cheated on?" "You have a good job, a loving family, and enough money. What reason do you have to be depressed?"
Those questions expose a belief that has settled deep into public thinking.
Depression, many people assume, needs one dramatic event before anyone accepts it as real.
Pain, in this view, comes with a neat explanation. Anything less sounds unbelievable.
