Srinagar, Sept. 8 -- Srinagar- Justice Dr. Pushpendra Singh Bhati will take oath as the new Chief Justice of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh on Wednesday.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at 11 am at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Srinagar.

Justice Bhati's appointment follows the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, which on August 31 recommended his elevation as Chief Justice of the High Court.

The Union government subsequently cleared the appointment, with President Droupadi Murmu issuing the notification appointing Justice Bhati to head the common High Court serving the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
