Srinagar, Sept. 6 -- Srinagar- The Union Law Ministry has issued formal notifications appointing Chief Justices to eight High Courts across the country, including the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.

Justice Dr Pushpendra Singh Bhati has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, according to the notification issued by the ministry.

The appointments have been made in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 217 of the Constitution, read with Article 222, which govern the appointment and transfer of High Court judges.

Besides Justice Bhati, seven other judges have been appointed as Chief Justices of various High Courts.
