J&K Schools Told To Screen Books For 'Objectionable Content'
Srinagar, July 9 -- Srinagar- Authorities have ordered a comprehensive screening of books in government and recognised private schools and coaching institutions across Kashmir to identify "inappropriate or objectionable content", directing heads of institutions to report any such material within seven days.
The directive comes after certain books and literature allegedly containing "anti-national and separatist content" were circulated in educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a circular, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) directed heads of government schools, recognised private schools and coaching institutions under its jurisdiction to screen all books, including recently acquired and older publications.
