J&K's Nights Getting Warmer, Winter Heat Rises With Altitude: Study
Srinagar, July 9 -- Srinagar- Several high-altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir, including Pahalgam and Gulmarg, have warmed by nearly one degree Celsius over the past two decades, while nighttime temperatures are rising sharply at several mountain stations, a new scientific study has found.
The findings point to an uneven but significant warming of the climate-sensitive Western Himalayan region, raising concerns over snow cover, glaciers, water availability and the stability of mountain ecosystems.
