J&K Rolls Out City Gas Policy to Boost CNG, PNG Connectivity
India, Oct. 8 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government has notified the City Gas Distribution (CGD) Policy, 2026, aimed at expanding access to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) across all 20 districts of the Union Territory.
The policy, approved by the Council of Ministers, seeks to establish a clear, investor-friendly and time-bound framework for expanding the use of natural gas among households, commercial establishments, industries and the transport sector.
The Office of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said in a post on X that the policy marks a significant step towards expanding clean-fuel access, accelerating industrial growth and modernising the energy infrastructure of Jammu and Kashmir.
