J&K Power Bills Likely To Rise From Sept 1
Srinagar, Aug. 22 -- Srinagar- Consumers across Jammu and Kashmir will have to pay more for electricity from September 1 after the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) approved an average 6.83 per cent hike in power tariffs for the Union Territory.
In its tariff order for 2026-27, the JERC approved an increase that is 1.83 percentage points higher than the 5 per cent hike proposed separately by the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL).
The revised tariff will come into effect from September 1, 2026, and will remain applicable until issuance of the next tariff order or until further orders of the Commission, unless amended, modified or extended earlier....
