Srinagar, Sept. 7 -- Srinagar- MBBS and BDS interns from 10 Government Medical Colleges and two Dental Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their ongoing agitation over the demand for an enhanced monthly stipend, beginning a 48-hour hunger strike and announcing that they will not undertake emergency-duty assignments with immediate effect.

The hunger strike began on Monday after talks with the government failed to end the interns' seven-day strike over the stipend issue.
