J&K Medical Interns Announce Strike Over Stipend Hike Demand
Srinagar, Aug. 28 -- Srinagar- Medical interns in Jammu and Kashmir have announced an indefinite strike from August 31, demanding a substantial increase in their monthly stipend, which they say has remained unchanged for nearly six years despite rising living costs and growing responsibilities.
In a communication released, the interns said they currently receive a monthly stipend of around Rs.12,000, which they described as inadequate considering the nature of their work and the long hours they put in at government hospitals.
They have demanded that the stipend be revised to Rs.30,000 per month, calling the demand one of fair compensation, dignity and recognition of the services rendered by medical interns."In view of the prolonged inac...
